Advise on Price of Bass, amp and pedal

Post by Fred »

I hardly play bass these days and can rather use the money towards the house fund so have decided to let it go. I am however not sure what a realistic price would be. Its Ernie Ball Sterling 4 String. Please note its the Proper USA Ernie Ball Sterling and the lower cost model.

The guitar is in mint condition.

I also have a SWR Workingmans 12" bass amp and a Boss GT6-B I am keen to sell.

Any help with setting prices for these items will be greatly appreciated.

BTW, the marks on the back is just the protective plastic that was never removed from the cover.

Hi Fred

Couple of things:

- Do you know what year the bass was made
- Generally the Sterling goes for less than a Stingray

In March of this year one that looks very similar to yours was sold on TB for US$1300

The Workingman SWR price will be relative to it being a Rabe model or a Fender made in Mexico version. It'll have on the back where it was made.

Let me know if you are unsure how to date or identify either piece.

Sterlings don’t get as much love as Stingrays - super cool basses though.

Probably would look at $1200-1500 in NZ

Workingmans SWR 12 I’d go between $800-$1200

Boss GT-6B $200ish

Just my guesses here

That's what I was hoping. Luckily I am not completely clueless(Might have sounded like that from my initial post), just asking so that I can try and get the best possible price.

Beaut looking bass mate. I played the stingray version in black with a maple neck for a while (belonged to my brither.. he still has it). It was a 90s made usa bass. Punchy as all hell. Great for rock/funk.
Reverb prices start at $799 usa. But then factor in shipping and tax and yours in a nice bass than that one.
Id be hopeful of $1500 ? Migh sit for a while till the right buyer comes along.
The workingmans combos are great and pretty popular but i dont know that youd get much over $750 for it. Could be surpirsed tho. The 15s maybe go for a little more. I think i bought a 12 for around $450 a few years back and sold it for much the same. But that was an older one.
Good luck :)

So after emailing Music Man I got an email back say it was completed on 19 October 2000. The Color is Honey Burst.

Wow, great condition for 18 years!

I think NZ$1500 would be a fair return. Again and others may disagree Stingrays hold a higher value than Sterling or Sabre.

The SWR combo IMO is $350-450 range. A number of Double Bassists like these so put that in the item description.

Best of luck.
