Jimi's Greatest Hit

Post by ash »

I heard 'All Along The Watchtower' on the radio yesterday for the first time in ages. It used to be the only Hendrix I ever heard on the radio until the Warriors started using Voodo Chile for their own promotion. I suppose some radio programmer thought that it was Jimi's greatest hit, but I never did like it that much.

So, which is Jimi's greatest song, hit or otherwise?

To the bat-polls, gentlemen :!:

Although I love Watchtower, my all time favourite is Foxy Lady :) I just rewatched Waynes World again last night too, so that swayed it :)
So, is that low alcohol or no alcohol at all? mmmm, no alcohol, do you want to try it? Noooooooooo.

Little wing is an amazing piece. How many bands have covered that.

Redhouse could be one of the mordern classic blues songs that was over looked.

I think the Wind Cries Mary. Either that or Machine Gun or Little Wing. WCM because it is the most listenable of the 3, but all are songs which aren't like any other song - kind of off in a style of their own.

Machine Gun Machine Gun Machine GUN!!!!!!!!! 8) Specifically the Band of Gypsys at the Fillmore East New Year's eve 1969 (2nd show, I think). The start of his solo in that performance (as seen in "The Jimi Hendrix Story") was the moment that turned me into a guitar player 8) I was watching the film, and the clip of machine Gun (starting at the solo) came on, and my brain got bent. It's never been the same since. I just lay there knowing I had to do that. Not wanted; had to. 8)

So, I have to vote for "other" really; and it's Machine Gun 8)
