It wasn't me, but you honestly can't say its their finest work!!mitch.twentyfive wrote:awwww come on!!jeremyb wrote:Yes, but I think in the worst debut album threadmitch.twentyfive wrote:has anyone mentioned Pink Floyd's Piper at the Gates of Dawn yet?
It's still an odd, challenging album. It's got funny, witty parts, it has occasionally creepy soundscapes, it touches on science fiction.jeremyb wrote:It wasn't me, but you honestly can't say its their finest work!!
agree. it seemed that all four of them really needed each other to produce that classic Floyd sound.Vince wrote:It's still an odd, challenging album. I like it heaps better than all the stuff they did in the 80s, that, to me, was elevator music.
I still rate Division Bell as one of my favourite albums although lyrically it wasn't as interesting or punchy as the Waters/Gilmour era Floyd; you can really hear his absence in the music.mitch.twentyfive wrote:agree. it seemed that all four of them really needed each other to produce that classic Floyd sound.Vince wrote:It's still an odd, challenging album. roger's solo work is all pretty average imo, and the Gilmour led Floyd wasn't anywhere near as good as the 70's line up.
Santana's cover of Back In Black, with that Nas guy on vocals, was one of the worst covers I've heard.telefiend wrote:Dunno if there's any rap-heads here, but Illmatic by Nas was a freak of a debut
Another favourite. Makes you want to go fast if driving.heavysoul wrote:Arctic Monkeys - Whatever People Say I am, That's what I'm not.
Ocean Colour Scene - Moseley Shoals (although this is actually their second album, I've included it as I don't count their shoe debut).
The Style Council - Introducing The Style Council.
Paul Weller - Paul Weller.
Ben Harper - Welcome to the Cruel World.
The Charlatans - Some Friendly.
The Last Shadow Puppets - The Age of the Understatement.
Miles Kane - The Colour of the Trap.
The Pixies - Come On Pilgrim.
The Stone Roses - The Stone Roses.
I reckon pros and cons of hitchhiking is his best lyrically, and the clapton guitar is damn fine. Gilmour Floyd is Floyd Lite, its the Diet Coke of Floyd.mitch.twentyfive wrote:agree. it seemed that all four of them really needed each other to produce that classic Floyd sound.Vince wrote:It's still an odd, challenging album.
