U2 tickets - A FECKIN JOKE

That's not necessarily the case. The market is complex and there are many factors at play. The price could arguably be at its upper limit, ie, just right. Remember also, that promoters want the vast majority of tickets sold early! They want the money in the bank, and they want to know whether to confirm the date or cancel.

I don't think they could have released all the tickets that morning. It is almost physically impossible to sell 35000 tickets in 90 mins. thats 388 per minute.
Each phone call into the agent would be at least 3mins to process the credit card transaction. I know for a fact they had 70 staff here and another 50 in Aussie taking over flow.
The web site was too slow to actually work. And we all know the post shops could not sell a stamp in 3 mins let alone a concert ticket.
so that makes you wonder who took most of them.

totally agree... if ticket prices are well above market rates, people may still pay, but begrudgingly. U2 or management could have quite easily increased the ticket prices to compensate for the cost of coming here, but chose not to. Aussies paid the same prices in Australian dollars as we did in NZ Dollars... so much for an act making an event accessible. I paid more than that to see Robbie Williams, and that was a pile of shite.1964 wrote:> "If you sell out of a limited resource in 90 minutes then you are too cheap."

It's only 4500 transactions though if everyone is going for the maximum quota of 8 .... spread that over the phone, internet, real groovy outlets and 600 Post Offices for the whole of the country ...TMG 03 wrote:I don't think they could have released all the tickets that morning. yep ... couple that with the fact that U2 haven't been here for 12 years, and probably won't again, and you've got a frenzy on your hands...1964 wrote:Maybe the promoters aren't as clueless as so many seem to think? Maybe they're doing their own market interference? Creating demand through panic tactics?

On the radio coppel said the internet was a complete disaster because while a phone call can be processed in 3 minutes, people spent a lot longer on the website, looking at all the options, comparing prices, thinking about what seats they should have. Whereas people on the phone just said give me the best tickets, here is my credit card, thanks, bye.
Another thing was in order to buy online you had to open a ticketmaster account which took ages to put in all your personal info. Not many people would have ticketmaster accounts because they are fairly new and tieketek has dominated in the past, so they had to start from scratch. Thats really crammed up the system.

Never put down to malice what can adequately be explained by stupidity
