When someone we all know offered it to me with some other things for something else.

Had a bass for longer than I've had an acoustic, yes, but the bass is on loan to the person playing it for us so I get to go back to the amount of strings I'm used to now.

This is a lot softer than what I'd usually listen to, but I like this tune.

The Smiths - There Is A Light That Never Goes Out

Love that Manchester sound.

Finally got around to listening to Emerson, Lake & Palmer - In Concert. Had it lying around, but hadn't got around to listening to it.

I can see why Emerson is praised for his playing.

If you read the Silmarillion, you owe it to yourself to check this out.

Oh, I've liked Blind Guardian for at least a decade.

I'll admit to not finishing the Silmarillion. One story in it, the poor guy just had endless, unending piles of torment heaped upon him... I gave up at that point, too depressing.

Not terribly keen on them. Perhaps I'm listening to bad Blind Guardian albums? What do you recommend?
"Vince, have you ever tried playing an expensive bass?" - Polarbear.
"And isn't that the finest acoustic bass guitar feedback solo you've ever heard?" - Billy Moose.

bad?

should checkout Demons and Wizards, singer from Blind Guardian (Hansi Kürsch) with Jon Schaffer on guitar from Iced Earth  8)
though it did take a bit of getting used to those vocals with that guitar together after being a fan of both bands
Hurdy Gurdy.... some how... and I'm not entirely certain how mind you, an instrument that sounds like someone has shoved a nest of angry hornets into a goose with a kazoo bill and is randomly slapping the poor creature with an accordion.... Sounds amazing.

Listening to _The Big Come Up_. Wish I'd heard it a good few years ago.

Got quite a shock in the last part of Heavy Soul, when the guitar just starts to SCREAM.

This fairly recent EP from Nick Roughan who used to be in 80s NZ band "The Skeptics". I don't even know if he has done any music in recent years, so this was a bit of a surprise - but if you like dark and atmospheric, this is fantastic.
