It’s not uncommon in the industry. I do a few nightmare gigs where I’m out til 4 and at work trying to cope at 8.30 next morning.alanp wrote:Not so much a problem for friday/saturday shows, but surely if they do this on weeknights, anyone who works early day shift is going to automatically pass?TmcB wrote:Only thing is that I forgot that Jakob have a ridiculous penchant for late starts; Wellington show has doors open at 9pm, show starts at 10pm, and three bands, so Jakob won't even have "past participle of get" started by 12am. I don't know if I'm even going to be awake for them

Re: Post-Rock Artists
Ha just read through this whole thread again.
Man some people got their tits up about the whole genre name thing. It's just a term coined by some fuckin journo, just cause it sounds pretentious doesn't mean you need to write off an entire sub-genre hahaha.
Post-metal is better anyway.
Gonna be doing some recording with my band soon, hope to have something to post in the near future!

Re: Post-Rock Artists
Well that was a read and a half! Got some bands to check out though, and some locals to keep an eye out for. Enjoyed the digs at the genre name - yeah it's lame but whatever - I'll just check out the tunes and not give a shit what label has been placed on them. Cheers for the insight and entertainment lads!

Re: Post-Rock Artists
Both post rock and post metal have pretty established musical formula by now so I guess there's nothing "post" about them anymore. Might as well go back and call these instrumental rock and atmospheric sludge like people used to do in the early 90's...

Hahaha my friend and I have been joking about that for the last couple of months.jeremyb wrote:I'm starting a post djent project!
That'd basically be a whole lot of rhythmic picking that you wouldn't be able to hear because of delay and reverb anyway

Re: Post-Rock Artists
I was at the Auckland Show, great to see and hear. the Juno was HUGE!!!! pumped out bass for days bro. I was up the front and just loving the sheer volume and band dynamics.jeremyb wrote:Fulfilled a dream last night and saw mogwai, was fucking amazing, so intense!
My only gripe was the choice of Guitars the Guys use. I cant accept that many Telecasters, black ones, cream ones and then when its time to Chunk, the dynamics grow in momentum to a sheer amount of post Djent all we got was Twang Twang Twang.
The guitarists should invest in an KH2 or a Les Paul and bring the Brootz when needed as the Tellies' didn't bring it on the night.
damn good album and show.
There are still some that think the neck PU is moved to accommodate the extra frets which only proves they cannot detect the difference in length of each.

Re: Post-Rock Artists
My plan is to build a one string 30" scale guitar tuned to F ala the djentstick and do the rhythmic stuff with that then use my normal rig to do atmospheric stuff over the top, would be kinda cool I reckon!finn61 wrote:Hahaha my friend and I have been joking about that for the last couple of months.jeremyb wrote:I'm starting a post djent project!
