Anyone else into this sort of thing?
Definitely. Love to hear chicks sing and play piano. there's something about piano-chicks.... :D

Tori Amos does some good stuff.

I don't like Vanessa Cqrlton's voice, but she's a good player, and easy to look at

Fiona Apple, being self-taught, has her own style. i particularly like her "Tidal" abum. "Slow Like Honey" is quite possibly the most beautiful song in the world.

Image

Imogen Heap....saved the best till last, well maybe not the best piano, but definitely the best voice, and the best songs, IMO.
this one's special, this is the ultimate, after this i'll never need another amp, EVER...Image

I agree with pretty much all of these, especially Imogen Heap.

Another recommendation would be Hope Sandoval of Mazzy Star, though i think she played a bit more tambourine than piano.

I've only heard one or two Tori Amos songs, but I definitely recall liking them. Her music seems to have a lot more energy and life in it than people like Norah Jones.

TOO RIGHT!!!.

as for the women. I have a thing for rock chicks rather than the crooner/muso types.

Amy Lee
Ella Hooper
The Donnas
Shirley Manson
Gwen Stefani (used to be rock)

and I'm sure there are plenty other.

Tanya Donnelly (ex-belly) is one chick + guitar combo I just can't get enough of -

On the chick on piano theme I was lucky enough to catch The Dresden Dolls @ the Kings Arms a month or 2 back and they were fantastic - one of the most enjoyable gigs I have ever been to.
