Brian May was my first guitar idol for sure. The dude is an artisan with a guitar

There have been many since, but for me the undisputed king of the fretboard is still EVH

I like the Edge a lot too. U2 are unashamedly my favourite band. I saw them two nights back to back at Mt Smart in about 2006 (and again on the 360 tour a few years back) and it was one of the best weekends of my life.

I like the edge too, but whats with the worship player love for U2? seems fairly much international.

It's because a lot of modern worship music sounds like a bad karaoke version of U2. Particularly a few years back it was awash with dotted 8ths.

It's moved on a bit these days. Now you hear a lot of quarter note delay too. 8)

 You're not missing too much. The lack of creativity, showiness and just plain bad music grates on me.

But here's an example if you want to subject yourself to it.

Nice guitar parts that support the song and are not too guitar-centric. I do wish that the dotted 8th craze would die down though - I'm a bit sick of that sound. But I don't listen to worship music very often, so I escape much of it. Most of it is far too ghastly to subject my ears to.

The first two albums I ever bought for myself when I was a lad were Deepest Purple and Queen's greatest hits so I guess I'm another one for Brian May and Ritchie Blackmore.

Apart from the happy clappy for jesus lyrics thats not too bad, I do think tho' that kind of dotted 8th sound is quite mesmerizing for crowds which is a part of the reason they use it I guess.

Well that's not quite the reaction I expected. :wtf:

But glad you liked it. :D It's not really my thing, but you know, go on, enjoy your Christian music.

Fuck, it took 2 minutes for the intro to finish. #closewindow

I dunno, that just sounds like most of the shitty radio rock you hear these days.

There's no such thing as Christian music, it's all just music!!! however there's likely some bands who make a lot of $$ because they are "Christian bands", who in the mainstream would struggle!

There's lots that is far worse than that! I know some of the united guys personally, they are actually REALLY good musos. Their 'Aftermath' album was great, some seriously good songwriting.
