Even though he sort of screws up the first solo a bit I still get chills every time I watch that Waters/Gilmour clip.

Ha, ruined sooty's dreams.
Totally, my love of guitar is built on a lie. :-(

It wasn't so much MOR rock radio that I was influenced by as it was 'Ready to Roll'.

Showing my age, but Peter Posa and "White Rabbit" made me sit up and take notice in the early sixties, and then Dave Davies in the late sixties. The usual suspects after that; Blackmore, Gilmour et.al. with people like Dave Dobbyn, James Wilkinson, Martin Winch and Dave Russell have all put guitars in my hands.....

..... I wish I could play half as well as them!!

First remember seeing Steve Stevens in 'Rebel Yell'.... and thinking... 'freaky looking (80's glam punk) but sounds amazing'.

My first and possibly all time favourite is Stu G from Delirious. Even if you detest church music, this guy is utterly spellbinding to watch/hear. He's the first guy who I heard who truly brought passion and expression to everything - not just solos, but also to even the simplest open chord.

Insane song with epic solo:

Next was The Edge, hated by all NZG'ers but me. He plays with such feel and emotion and classy simplicity:

And then Johnny Buckland, like my other faves, classy, simple, melodic:

and basically I haven't gone beyond those three. I like the guitar as a vehicle to support at song, and these 3 players do that so well.
