Martin Barre is mostly there because I thought that was a groovy picture. His playing isn't especially magical, he was just there when good things happened. Same with Hammond to some extent. He never wrote a bassline, but was really good at playing what he was told toTsuken wrote: You should have uploaded the pics instead of just linking to them
I did know Ian Anderson, David Gilmour, and McCartney - and my wife recognised Jerry Cantrell. I must confess to wondering if it was Martin Barre, but I've never seen him, so I didn't know. Of course shortly folling that thought, was a wondering along the lines of of "that other guy's probably Tull's bassist"

I haven't really got a guitarist whom I worship, but one guitarist did start me playing. Before you laugh too hard, there are a goodly number of famous guitarists who claim they too were strongly influenced by this man, who incidentally is also touted as being one of the major factors in raising Fender Stratocaster sales through the roof during the late '50s and '60s.
Obviously, I'm talking about Brian Rankin - but you may know him better as Hank.
Hank Marvin was born Brian Rankin on 28th October 1941 in Newcastle-upon-Tyne, England. Marvin's metallic, echoed picking and generous tremolo use on a Fiesta Red Fender Stratocaster® inspired a whole generation of guitarists including Jeff Beck, Ritchie Blackmore, Eric Clapton and many others, who began their careers in groups imitating the Shadows in their own groups. Marvin, in his black, horn-rimmed glasses, was the ultimate cool guitar icon in late 50's/early 60's Britain.

He hit a chord that rocked the spinet and disappeared into the infinite ...

Nothing wrong with old Hank! I used to stay up very late trying to play along with my old man's Shadows CDs.
