Sound City
Tube amp and guitar tones straight from 1958… amazing how believable the sounds were back then, even without the modellers...

Re: Sound City
Whats Dave Grohl famous for, well apart from playing bass in Nirvana?

Re: Sound City
Yup. It's real good. Especially once you start getting to recording footage.
Can someone answer this; When they are all in the studio recording, all members have headphones on, yet all are playing live through their mic'd up equipment. What are they listening to through the headphones? (this has always baffled me, as I know sweet F all about recording).

Re: Sound City
Their mics combined with a click track and the singer. It's not uncommon to DI the bass as well. Believe it or not hearing a feed through headphones can actually lead to tighter playing, particularly if the band is set up in a really big space.

Re: Sound City
usually when I record I will have everything but my own guitar in my headphones. I find I lock in better not hearing what I am playing at the time....although when soloing I need to hear myself

Re: Sound City
Kinda related - I'd like to buy this on iTumes as well but I haven't had an Apple device in years. Can I d/l the movie as a stand alone item for playback on my media network (non Apple obviously)? Or is it all closed format? Ta

Re: Sound City
Don't think Apple uses DRM on this but you can download it direct from the website too which may be easier ?

Re: Sound City
The iTunes download is a DRM protected .m4v so it won't play on anything but Apple products linked to your account. I only used iTunes cause I got a voucher for Christmas. The makers probably get more money if you go through the website anyway*UNIQUE* wrote:Kinda related - I'd like to buy this on iTumes as well but I haven't had an Apple device in years.
