Hi all,
I just discovered a great web video series by Vice and D'Addario called 'guitar moves'.
Basically the deal is Matt Sweeney (who has played in bands like Zwan) meets up with other guitar players and has a jam/Q&A session. And they are pretty great, sort of done so a non-player can enjoy them but actually full of cool things players can learn.
Josh Homme is hilarious (especially funny part about tapping):

Billy Gibbons is great as always:

Dan Auerbach talks and plays some blues:

Annie Clark's one is really cool. She talks about Berkley and shows this amazing chord she calls 'the debussy voicing':

...and there are several others, mostly movers and shakers in alternative music.
But one video really impressed me. Blake Mills, 27 year old player from LA. Plays with Lucinda Williams, Fiona Apple, Band of Horses. Absolutely astounding guitar player.
That rarest of things: a virtuoso who always knows when to park the diddling. Sort of Cooder meets Trucks meets Greene meets Johnson meets Sharrock with a sprinkling of every other guitar player ever and the whispering ghost of a teenage shred-head, all packaged up in a very musical cat:

also a red bull piece on him:

First 'impressive guitar player' guy I've heard in years that really grabbed my attention.
Guitar Moves. Great video series. Plus: Blake Mills.

Love these comments from the Blake Mills episode:
"No one takes guitar seriously...it's the instrument for assholes!"
Cracked me up!

Great thing about that host is he gets genuinely excited about stuff each player does. He's not jaded.

Watched them all, liked the casual way St Vincent mentioned she had a crazy uncle who played guitar...Tuck Andress. Great series i assume you can subscribe to them.
