Modern Listening Recommendations

Post by SixGunLover »

I'm trying to update my listening habits again and get in touch with something more modern.

My bread and butter has always ranged from British blues rock through to 80s metal, but I'm trying to broaden my horizons and find some modern rock/post-grunge/metal etc. bands that I'd like. I'm looking for stuff with big riffs/cool guitar parts, dynamics and distinctive vocals - having spent the morning on Spotify sampling a bunch of modern rock acts my biggest peeve is that about 70% of them sound like they have the same singer.

Some of these aren't exactly up-to-date but here's a small list of bands I've found and enjoyed thus far:
Alice in Chains
Soundgarden
Rage Against the Machine
Tool
Audioslave
Wolfmother
The Sword
Black Label Society
Witchcraft
Alter Bridge
Clutch
Corrosion of Conformity
Red Fang
Priestess
Spiritual Beggars
The Answer
Mondo Drag
Graveyard
The Atomic Bitchwax
Royal Thunder
Royal Blood

Bands, albums and song recommendations are all welcomed. Thanks everyone.

hahaha....I reckon too.

So, these "grown" men that name these bands in this way....are they serious, or do they realise that the names are literally laughable?

My buddy Neil and I had a band project for a while, used a band name generator, ended up being called "The Gonad Manifest". Amazing.
