Malmsteen Last Night

Post by JohnG »

Over The Top in every way...From him and his wall of Marshalls taking up the whole stage with the rest of the musicians tucked away in the corner, to the ear shattering volume of his plexi on 10...Loved every second of it :D

I was at that concert about 18 yrs ago too! I'm pretty sure that the majority of people there last night were at that concert too, as they all looked as ancient as me...

Maiden ran with that type of stage set through the No Prayer to Virtual XI era and they were all just stage dressing and were empty cabs/dummy heads. As evidenced when one of Janick's amps blew up and they had to fetch a spare form elsewhere and put it up there after a 7 minute delay.

In Europe/US I guess they go in the trucks, not sure what they'd do here? maybe they stack and go along with the real gear somehow

It was organized through a local backline company, who we support.

They are real cabs - just mostly not plugged in.
