So you think you know how to use your pedalboard, huh?

Post by Slowy »

Caught this live on RNZ last Friday afternoon. They had the wit to video it, fortunately.

3 recommendations:
1: Watch it right through.
2: Play it on the best system you can.
3: Play it LOUD!
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

I watched him at a small gig in Rarotonga. He was by himself, and looped everything, but with a simpler system. He was excellent, and very entertaining.

he is probably the best sound engineer in NZ IMO
There are still some that think the neck PU is moved to accommodate the extra frets which only proves they cannot detect the difference in length of each.

interesting...I didnt know he was an engineer.

Ive tended to be a bit negative about him as a person based on his horrific attempt to incite violence against the police....hopefully he has matured a bit.

Yes obviously highly skilled, but I find it hard to appreciate it when that skill is being used to create the style of music in that vid, does nothing for me. Also, using loopers to create songs from scratch is hardly anything new, so it's impressive, yet also not impressive.
The older I get, the more disappointed in myself I become.

Seems a bit harsh, DM. How does this modified version stand up?
:D

Same here, but it DOES give ideas for stuff *I* could do.
"Vince, have you ever tried playing an expensive bass?" - Polarbear.
"And isn't that the finest acoustic bass guitar feedback solo you've ever heard?" - Billy Moose.

Typical kiwi response :)

The Mrs was completely amazed at the idea of samplers. It kind of made me want to get an m5 pedal again too.
Loving it so far

I like what Nick from Cairo Knife Fight does when he loops his drums and builds up some sick beats, also this guy (albeit an aussie) is awesome, saw him at the buskers festival one year....
