Mike Bloomfield 3-part doco

Came across this three-part video documentary earlier today, just working my way through it now :)

There's some fantastic stuff in there if you're in any way an MB fan (even if not it's still worth checking out). I became aware of him around 25yrs ago; those two CD's in the pic above were two of the first albums I ever bought after seeing some of his other recordings in my Dad's record collection. Inspirational stuff when you're 13, gave me as big a thrill as when I discovered Hendrix a year or two later.

Anyhow, Mike would have had his 73rd Birthday a couple of days ago so I thought it fitting to post this up. Truly one of the blues greats MF.

Thanks for the link. Had a skip through. Will pay it closer attention when I'm not so tired.

I get why your LP has mismatched control knobs but if you want a matched set I've some sitting in my box of bits you're welcome to. Let me know. I'll put them in the guitar case ahead of the Gearfest.

That 'live at the Waldorf's album in the photo is excellent. Bloomfield was great, and tragic. I bought 'if you love these blues play em as you please' when in Auckland earlier this year. I like it, one of his better ones.

The 2 first Butterfield Blues Band albums are good, especially East West.

That's a great album, one of my Dad's all time favourites. In fact he sent me these couple of pics just last night...

That's the album which he is most proud of his playing, it is fantastic. I always remember him saying how he didn't really like the Super Session album, and the follow-up album 'The Live Adventures Of Mike Bloomfield & Al Kooper' was simply a means to meet his obligations to Columbia records.

Oh, check out this cool little clip. Notice he has a pick tucked in the strings at the first fret !! Early form of string muting maybe :?:

He was a huge part of Dylan's sound too.
