That album has it's moments, sure it's not his best work but I wouldn't dismiss it entirely. His version of "Style" where he channels the smiths and makes the subtle Sonic Youth reference is great, then again I'm probably on my own here...
Nope, I hear ya...I love the album and it's quirks. Wildest Dreams intro and outro is great...and the new melody in Bad Blood courtesy of a Jazzmaster. I think it's a good album. People struggle with its origins and motivation I think.
I wasn't aware of any of that when I bought it. I was just happy to see a new Ryan Adams album. And I liked the opening track - very Springsteen. But after that... Naa. My daughter has the Taylor Swift album in the car so I get to hear the original... a lot... :-(

Well, the lyrics aren't his norm...she's not really noted for her lyrical "depth" ...

No. I suppose not. Safe for my 8 year old though. I tried to explain what 'Shake it Off' meant . That and the All About That Bass song. Positive body image and not letting mean spirited comments get to you.

She just said: "Yeah, you would say that, fatty..."

Now I have no idea who Ryan Adams is and I haven't listen to the other videos linked in this thread (YET) but I do know who Iron Maiden is and I do know what I like and this version is totally awesome, bordering on genius ...sounds like it should be played during an episode of The Walking Dead

Mind almost blown

I have never listened to him, will have to try today.
Tube amp and guitar tones straight from 1958… amazing how believable the sounds were back then, even without the modellers...

This version of "Gimme something Good" on Letterman is much faster than the original and much more intense.
