They don't claim to be black metal, it is just mallcore kids get into them and since the only black metal band they know is cradle of filth (thinking keyboards are what makes a band black metal) , they randomly throw Children of bodom into the black metal genre as they have keyboards.Tehhaxorr wrote: and they claim to be black metal..... fags.
Except they're Finnish and sound nothing like Swedish Gothenburg bands (Dark Tranquillity, In Flames, Soilwork yadda yadda). They sound a lot like the bands (which are of similar descent) Norther, Kalmah, Eternal Tears of Sorrow and Imperanon. Most are Spinefarm/Spikefarm label-mates. The keyboards are higher in the mix and be-grudgingly they do borrow riffage from the Norway, hence why outsiders use the Black Metal comparison. Certainly not the same as the typical Gothenburg sound. But of course, some of us actually grew up with the Gothenburg bands so we can discern the difference1-3-8 wrote: And Children Of Bodom sound just like any other Gothenburg style melodic death band with a better guitarist and keyboards, nothing special really.
