Summer of 69 aside, I quite like his stuff actually.
He did some mental blues based shit before the e street band too iirc.

So it’s a  from me.

Born to Run is a great song. The other 10,000 have great words but boring melodies. His box of tricks is pretty limited. Don't like his Elvis type songs e.g. hey little daddy it's your baby home he left you all alone hmmm hmmm etc.

But top bloke and should be president of the USA.

Yeah, definitely a  even if the guitar is pretty incidental, really. It's not about the guitars, most of the time. For me, most of those soaring, perfect instrumental moments were (are?) left to the sax, in perfect 50s style.

I also love the way the E Street Band have this image of being just a bunch of guys having a great old time.

One of my best mates was a big Springsteen fan and saw him four times on the same uk tour. Every night , different set list and the same songs would be performed with different instrumentation, one night solo with a piano, another night full band. Whole thing was completely fluid and down to Springsteen's reading of the audience. Same tour another mate Keith West ( of grocer jack notoriety) had to leave after five songs. Said they hit the stage with such insane energy that increased with each new song that he left out of fear for his heart giving out....Now that's a proper m' fucking band.Big respect...

100% agree. The prospect of a 3hour concert would be amazing if you're a big fan, but I think I'd be more inclined to sit through a tight 45 minute set at a festival. But I should say I've never seen him live, so maybe I'd be swept away in it all...

It's like he has all this potential, and then screws it up with silly arrangements and instruments...but, I got the Devils and Dust CD and it had a DVD of some live stuff in an old house. Just him and a very old mahogany Gibson. Mind blowing.

Good writer.... so a half up thumb.
