John Butler Trio, Nelson

Post by Shimmer »

Went to the Nelson gig over the weekend to see John Butler Trio (also had Trinity Roots, Fly My Pretties, L.A.B)
Just to say, aside from an iffy Hendrix/bluesy moment, John Butler Trio were brilliant. The live version of Oceans was excellent. A couple of banjo moments were killer. Worked the crowd with some hippy-ish musings. His guitar playing was top-notch. And a great backing band.
Had the kids so we left during Fly My Pretties as it was getting later - not sure they were my bag anyway so wasn't too upset.
I want all the pedals!

He's a clever, gifted guy...did he not have some connection with Ben Harper at some stage?

Not sure I hadn't heard that - they definitely have some similarities though.
JBs right hand technique was great to watch, whether it was on his 12 (11?) string or the banjo.
