He gave us musical pleasure and inspiration, but his time in the spotlight is now over. It happens to all of us. On the upside, each of us is now a better guitarist than he is, in the same way that I’m a better singer than Elvis is, ‘cos he don’t sing no more.

Huge respect for Eddie. Never one to hog the limelight off stage. He just loved to play. Massive direction change in guitar playing technique that without him would be a very different world now. RIP brother. Image

Very sad. Amazing contributor to the the musical world.

I suspect the price of 5150's and Wolfgang's in the 2nd hand market is going to jump now.

I was considering selling my Axis these last few weeks but I think I'll hold onto it now :(

That black and white guitar body at 5:52 is a cool variation on the stripes

Always keen to drop $5.5k on an auction with the title "guitar".

He's listed that a few times at around that pricing. The fading of the finish is crazy!

For me, the thing I like about Eddie Van Halen is that he's always smiling on stage, and looks like he's happy and enjoying himself :-)

It’s such a huge loss.

From that video It looks like there’s a truckload of Eddie’s unreleased music in 5150. I always loved his playing more than I liked the band (though I do like them, especially the Roth years). I wonder what they’ll find tucked away in the vaults?

As someone alluded to earlier he described his playing as “falling down the stairs and landing on your feet” and I always thought that was a perfect way to explain it.

yeah that has been for sale for well over a year and has dropped in price to be at that current price. I think it started at around 10k when first listed ... ugliest finish I have seen in a long time
