NZ Rockshops in conjunction with DEAN Guitars is proud to announce that MICHAEL ANGELO BATIO will coming to NZ for a series of guitar clinics in November 2008.
Named as the “Number One Shredder of all time” by Guitar ONE magazine, Michael Angelo Batio rose to prominence in the mid-eighties as a member of the bands Holland and Nitro. Guitarists were instantly enamoured with his incredible speed-picking and accuracy and he quickly became a shred-legend.
Most famous for his ambidextrous abilities, Michael became infamous for his use of the Double-guitar – an instrument he invented. Seeing Michael play 2 guitars necks simultaneously (in harmony) is a sight to behold and certainly a once-in-a-lifetime experience.
You need to see Michael in action, click here to check him out on YouTube.
You also need to check out his Dean Guitars webpage here http://www.deanguitars.com/angelo/
Michael started playing piano and composing at age 5 and started playing guitar at age 10.
Michael has had 2 major label record deals. Atlantic Records with the band “Holland” and Rhino/Warner Brothers Records with the band “Nitro”.
Michael has performed over 1,400 shows in 43 different countries since 1993. He has toured the world performing guitar workshops for Dean Guitars, touring with various bands and as a solo artist. The 43 countries he has toured in are: U.S.A (44 states including Alaska), ENGLAND, SCOTLAND, IRELAND, WALES, BELGIUM, HOLLAND, SPAIN, ITALY (including Sicily), PORTUGAL, GERMANY, AUSTRIA, FINLAND, DENMARK, SWITZERLAND, LITHUANIA, CANADA, MEXICO, AUSTRALIA, NEW ZEALAND, RUSSIA, FRANCE, PERU, The CANARY ISLANDS, TURKEY, JAPAN, CHINA, The PHILIPPINES, MALAYSIA, BRAZIL, EL SALVADOR, TAIWAN, HONG KONG, SINGAPORE, THAILAND, SWEDEN, NORWAY, HUNGARY, SLOVAKIA, GREECE, SLOVENIA, CHILE and KOREA.

He's that guy with the mullet who sang Achy Breaky Heart, right?
He hit a chord that rocked the spinet and disappeared into the infinite ...

Re: Michael Angelo Batio coming to town
Will he be bringing the quadruple-neck and conducting four clinics simultaneously ? I hear that you get twice as fast just by being in the same room and breathing air that he breathed out !

Hell yes, I'll be there for sure I went to the clinic he did here in the early 90's in Auckland (I think it was Big Bang Music in Parnell?). One of the best clinics I've been too, except that he played too much jazz on an acoustic guitar

Re: Michael Angelo Batio coming to town
I'm there... this guy may well be a walking shredder cliche, but I do think his clinic would be as informative as it would be amusing. I have his instructional vid, it's hilarious but there are some great tips in it for any wannabe shredder.
The older I get, the more disappointed in myself I become.

Maybe we should have a corresponding round of gearfests and invite him along?

Re: Michael Angelo Batio coming to town
Hey everybody - it's Matt here from NZ Rockshops.
I am delighted to confirm that Michael Angelo Batio is indeed coming to town!!! We're gonna do 4 clinics with him in November as indicated on our website and try to reach as many guitarists as possible. This is the first guitar clinic we have conducted in many years, so we're all really excited....not least myself as I'll be travelling with Michael and will be trying to pick up PLENTY of shred tips on those domestic flights
Michale is a killer player and a great guy so we'd love to see y'all there. Venues are being confirmed right now, but I can tell you that tickets will be $20 ($10 with student ID) and it will be AWESOME!!! If you're interested, then please register your interest via http://www.rockshop.co.nz and I'll email you directly with all the details once they're finalised.
Oh yeah.....he is DEFINITELY bringing the double guitar!!!

Re: Michael Angelo Batio coming to town
I watched him in concert in California sorry to say I was bored in minutes the two handed thing is clever but mindnumbingly boring
But there is no doubt he is good at what he does
