This is the most intriguing answer yet.

I applaud you for being a purist, there is something nice about just going direct into an amp without 20 odd pedals in the way!

Re: Survey: How many effects pedals do you own?
Thank you. I have two amps — a Princeton Reverb II and a Hiwatt Custom 7 — which produce lots of sounds. Of late, I have been borrowing pedals from the library — one or two at a time — as an experiment. I am still not convinced that pedals are for me.

Re: Survey: How many effects pedals do you own?
I never felt the desire to acquire a collection, and I am more interested in the guitar and the amp than anything in-between. However, all the talk about pedals on this forum made me curious so I joined the Music and Electronics Library at the Audio Foundation last year. I borrow one or two pedals for a month, just to hear what they do. I might buy something from Red Witch this year — their pedals are intriguing.

If the sounds you want in your head come from your current setup then I can see no need for pedals, to me they're tools to sculpt the tone and produce wild noises but thats not for everyone

This is a few years old, has grown slightly since but is also missing quite a few that are loaned out

I am fortunate, in that I have no sounds in my head. I do not play songs — I improvise everything; I do not want to emulate anyone, so I am not trying to replicate sounds I have heard. The equipment makes sounds; I turn the knobs to change them, more or less at random.jeremyb wrote: ↑Thu Jan 11, 2024 2:08 pmIf the sounds you want in your head come from your current setup then I can see no need for pedals, to me they're tools to sculpt the tone and produce wild noises but thats not for everyone
