Mic in front of P15R, clean sounds with hint of breakup-sorted.mr_sooty wrote:A friend of mine is thinking of selling his HD500 (no, it's not Rhett) and I'm seriously thinking of snapping it up for demo recording purposes. I haven't done any recording for ages cos I can't be arsed getting all my gear set up everytime a get some inspiration. I have a few amp emulations on the PC - GTR Solo is the main one - but it sounds terrible, dunno if it's cos of my average interface but there's definitely that digital cold-ness that sounds nothing like a real amp. Plus there's the slight latency issue, my PC only has 3GB RAM. Hoping a POD might acheive some more favourable results, although I'm a little sceptical. I tried the HD500 once at RS through some headphones and it definitely had that digital thing going on. Most of the demos I've heard of it are metal orientated. It's always the cleans I struggle with, the distortion sounds are realistic enough but I haven't heard many nice 'straight into a clean amp with just a hint of breakup' tones.

Listen to the fourth song on the list. It's mostly clean, with some light drive on the solo. I really liked the solo tone. Can't remember what I used, it might even actually have been the Dr Z model.

The Dr Z model on it is awesome, probably the best model they do, seems way more organic than some of them, the early firmwares sounded pants thru headphones, much better now!mr_sooty wrote:A friend of mine is thinking of selling his HD500 (no, it's not Rhett) and I'm seriously thinking of snapping it up for demo recording purposes. I'd imagine that one would needto sit down and tweak the settings as opposed to using the in built presets for your clean stuff, to get away from that digital sound.

Well that'd be a nice cheap option, but I'd still have to get the pedalboard set up for recording. I kinda like the idea of just having something like the POD just hanging out by my PC ready to go whenever I feel inspired to record something.BG wrote: Its not a Pod you want, its a Blonde.

ah yeah, I guess. I just have my saffire plugged into the PC all the time so it would be a case of plugging the blonde into that and bobs your aunties husband.
