So I'll never have to bother unless it's something the size of a pedal or smaller, thenJenesis wrote:No, you'd say congratulations if I actually bought it.

Thats the one mate.TMG 03 wrote:Is that the one that was on TM thursday night. You got steal.
Yeah, considering the prices I was faced with for a new one. But even beyond that, it just sounds great, and I'm still yet to get the amp running up to spec.
Cheers

Your good wishes will be appreciated next week when my new delay arrives, but only if you can find the time while trying to flick off your latest "keeper".slash-ed wrote:So I'll never have to bother unless it's something the size of a pedal or smaller, thenJenesis wrote:No, you'd say congratulations if I actually bought it.
Indeed, that was a hugely GAS-inducing photo at the time.robnobcorncob wrote:Woah that's one hot looking stack !Jenesis wrote:I was gonna buy the vertical Mesa 2x12...

Maybe after my Lotto win tonight I'll buy it anyway...

Re: New (old) Cab to get the Peavey Crankin
I ve got one of those halfback 4x12s, its the bottom cab from a stack so its square from the porfile view but still has the slanted speakers/grill in the front. got the 2 Black shadows/2 EVs. heaviest guitar cab ive come across, id estimate it somewhere around 70kg
The EVs are really clear sounding due to the massive rating (200w)
If your down in wellington Robnobcorncob you can come try it out sometime if you wanted ay. A mate played a mk1 through it at a show recently and it sounded pretty good, had heard the same amp through a marshall a couple of days earlier and the mesa cab seemed like a big improvement

Awesome, I'd be very keen to give it a whirl. What kind of head do you run with it? Why not bring it to the Wellington gearfest perhaps?Green Bastard wrote:I ve got one of those halfback 4x12s, its the bottom cab from a stack so its square from the porfile view but still has the slanted speakers/grill in the front. got the 2 Black shadows/2 EVs. heaviest guitar cab ive come across, id estimate it somewhere around 70kg

Ive got a 5150 and an old laney I run through it. Sounds massive with the 5150.robnobcorncob wrote:What kind of head do you run with it? Why not bring it to the Wellington gearfest perhaps?
Yeah might try and make it to the gear fest and have a geez at other dudes stuff. I'll have a look at that thread now and find out details.

Ah a 5150 ! None more brutal. Can't wait Does your cab have an additional back panel so that you can make it fully closed back? I know some halfbacks came with that option.Green Bastard wrote:Ive got a 5150 and an old laney I run through it. Re: New (old) Cab to get the Peavey Crankin
Yeah im a bit over the 5150, had it for about 5 years now, but cant bring myself to sell it, still sounds good when i get to crank it.
Nah mine doesnt have the other back panel, ive been thinking of getting one made up but just havent "past participle of get" around to it yet.
Was actually thinking about making it a hinged cabinet door on the back so i can stash beers in it and wheel them into shows unseen, might also need to install a small refridgeration unit, but dont really want to ad any more weight to that cab

So true, Nothing chugs away at high volume like a 5150. However I needed a clean channel so I sold the one I had.Green Bastard wrote:Yeah im a bit over the 5150, had it for about 5 years now, but cant bring myself to sell it, still sounds good when i get to crank it.

Mesa might still have back panels, but it'll probably cost you an arm & a leg. You could get one of those rackmounted mini-fridges perhaps for beer? (I've heard Zakk Wylde has one.. )
