NSIALD!
For those of you scratching your heads - New "Strat I Actually Like" Day!
Picked this up Saturday morning, used it for a gig that same night, and it was AWESOME. Neck single coil tone through the AC mode of my Egnater Tweaker was simply spectacular, and the cleaner tones ended up being a really good tonal option for the weirdly structured wedding in which we at various times found ourselves playing to people sitting at their tables clapping politely, then a random bunch of people dancing right at the back of the hall, and then to the far side of the stage, and then about 6 people in front of us But that's another story...
What we have here is a Fender "Hot Rod Reissue" Strat, made in Japan somewhere between 1990-1995, haven't checked the serial just yet. Lots of cool stuff like an original FR, TBX control, push/pull split for the 'bucker (which by all accounts is either a Dimarzio PAF, PAF Pro or Super 3, haven't quite figured out which yet), contoured neck heel and compound radius fretboard. Sounds great and plays fabulously, the neck is pretty damn thin which is a small negative for me, but otherwise all awesome, all day!

Re: NSIALD!
Cheers dude. The colour is not as manly as polka dots though, obviously.
Haha well hardly anything is really strictly a "keeper" with me but I can see this hanging around for awhile. I was REALLY stoked with its performance on Saturday night!SammyD wrote:Nice scored Ed! Is this one a keeper??

He hit a chord that rocked the spinet and disappeared into the infinite ...

Dude I like that guitar a LOT. Good score.
That pickup (if it's the factory installed one) will almost certainly be a PAF Pro.

Re: NSIALD!
Cheers! Yeah that's what I thought, based on Sambora's Strats and the FR Squier Series I had a few years ago, but from the little info on this series that I've found on the net there seem to be guys who reckon there are some with PAF or Super 3 in them. I thought it might be a Super 3 at first, since it seems comparatively dark, but I don't think it's high output enough to be a Super 3. I wouldn't have instantly thought PAF Pro (based on the sound I'm getting from it) but I haven't played one in a LONG time so I might just be remembering wrongly. AFAIK it's all original anyway, and looks like someone bought it and chucked it under their bed for 20 years (just checked the serial and it appears to be a 91/92!) - crazy! Re: NSIALD!
Definitely not a PAF cos of the hex pole pieces.
Actually now I think about it - probably NOT a PAF Pro, AFAIK they have always had black hex pole pieces whereas yours are silver hex pole pieces. So yeah, could be Super Distortion or Super 3. Interesting. Hmmmm time to whip off the pickguard and have a look?
