NUBD plus some NGD and NAD toneclips

Post by bender »

New U-Bass Day! This wee beauty arrived yesterday courtesy of a forum member. It's a load of fun- cool for just noodling but also a great recording tool (as I discovered after some experimentation this afternoon.

This is a combination of a mic near the soundhole and the DI:

This one is a combination of a mic at roughly the body join, plus the pickup recorded through my Ryan built Ampeg Reverberocket.

I thought I might as well take some pics and record a sample of the La Cabronita I picked up last week while I was at it:

This is a bit of noodling around a chord progression based on a live recording of Yellow Ledbetter by Pearl Jam that I had stuck in my head (it was a b-side on some cassingle I had in the 90s- haven't heard it since then either). The first guitar and lead noodling are the La Cabronita and the tremolating chords are my gold Robin Savoy (BKP Manhattan P-90s).

Yay! Glad you like it. Mic at the join gives you a decent SB vibe which is cool :-)

The combination of that, plus the amp is excellent. That's my go-to recording setup for it now.

Choice! I've always been curious about those. What's the "U" stand for?
"Vince, have you ever tried playing an expensive bass?" - Polarbear.
"And isn't that the finest acoustic bass guitar feedback solo you've ever heard?" - Billy Moose.

Ah, of course. I was trying to understand how it was an upright bass and I was getting nowhere!
