2 more PRSs! (now with family photo)
So a throw away comment in the swaps thread has seen a busy few days... 2 non-PRSs out, 2 PRSs in.
Custom 22 triple soapbar in black with maple neck.
Santana III, 10 top in grey black.
Only had time for a quick blast last night, but I'm really digging the triple soapbar. Very strat-like. I think Slowie will be lining up to play this fella. Full PRS family shot to come...

I don't agree with the tuners, but I really like the santana DC shape.

Swapped my soapbar McCarty for a EC Strat. That was a great sounding PRS. Like your three pickup one more.
What PRS did you sell?

None! Sold NON PRSs - a Fender strat and a Parker fly.Molly wrote:Swapped my soapbar McCarty for a EC Strat. That was a great sounding PRS. Like your three pickup one more.

And I believe your old McCarty soapbar now resides with me, after a short stay in Waiuku.

Really? These things sure do get around. Wonder why he didn't keep it????? It was a nice contrast to his other guitars.
I'm up to nine Strats though so am hardly an advert for the benefits of a varied set-up.

I love it when a PRS has black hardware on a maple neck (with unfinished headstock), looks even better when the body is black too!

It's because for the majority of players, fully P90 loaded guitars are a "flavor" - rarely a "staple". Therefore they are always high on the cull list when GAS attacks.Molly wrote:Really? These things sure do get around. Wonder why he didn't keep it????? It was a nice contrast to his other guitars.

That's just the best news I've heard in years! I could happily live with just the right P90 guitar.NZRS_Matt wrote:It's because for the majority of players, fully P90 loaded guitars are a "flavor" - rarely a "staple". Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

Family photo (not the best, but hard to get a decent shot with all the shiny tops):
Top row: McCarty Soapbar Standard (solid mahogany, no maple cap), P24 Trem (10 top), 408
Bottom row: Custom 22 (10 top quilt), Custom 22 Triple Soapbar, Santana III (10 top)

Not a huge PRS fan, but I do think the Maple neck looks way hotter on em.
That triple soapbar is killer.

That's amazing, wow.
Never realised the Santana was so much wider than the regular PRS shape.
How does the 408 compared sound wise to the standards?
