NSRS50D!

Post by The Scarecrow »

Nu Single Rectifier Solo 50 Day!

I briefly had one of these on loan from a bandmate years ago. I'd only heard dual and triple recs and they never floated my boat, but the SR seemed to have a bit more of a warmth to it and far less of that fizziness that the DR & TR have to my ears. Also has a very responsive EQ - no massive diming required here.

Only had a few hours with it now but the tonal variety is quite good - I've got it set for super-clean and modern gain sounds, but I'm really digging the pushed option on the clean channel and the raw mode on the dirty as well. The solo boost is a bloody godsend for punching through.

Pairs nicely with the Mesa 2x12 I already have, but sounded massively nuts through my Splawn quad, though now I can have two fully-matched (brand-wise) rigs. 50w is very loud, but I got some bedroom tones out of within about 5 mins that sound pretty awesome. Only gripe is the delay on the F/S between channel changing, but I've always known this to be a thing on the Recs.

Pictured here with what I call my early 2000's nu-metal rig 8)

It is, I think the RS only got about 4 in... I was lucky enough to snag the last one!

Sweet, the SE Holcomb even sports the Seymour Duncan Custom Shop Alpha and Omega pickups, the solid old birds compared to the shadow birds in the USA model and of course the neck binding. All appointments are perfect.

I know it sounds massive on the SR

Gat was worth buying for the SD set alone, but the 25.5" scale sits really nice in Drop C and this thing just shines in single-coil mode.

Thanks, it's much smaller/more portable than my Splawn setup, but certainly not lacking in any of that big tone.
