NGD - Suhr T in Oly White

Post by null_pointer »

Well this took nearly a month to arrive from purchase to delivery but is finally in my hands after spending several days in Auckland circulating between customs and the courier. Definitely a fan of the colour, and the rosewood board is more my bag too. Needs an immediate restring (not a Daddy fan) but surprised to find it pretty much in tune out of the box. This is new from shop, still had the fret protector on the neck and doesn't look touched at all, so to still be in tune takes some doing, especially after the climate changes travelling international brings.
Looking forward to plugging it into the Princeton!

Looks rather smart. But obviously not as nice as the Lake Placid Blue one.

Does a guitar of this calibre only ship with a soft case?
Also love the blonde finish too, one of my favourites on a Tele.

Very nice. Yeah for that sorta money I don't think a hard case is asking too much.
Loving it so far

Hard case is an option (extra hand shandy US) but the box size changes to double boxed and the UPS shipping cost climbs to a total (including case) of $330NZ. So for that coin I can get a G&G locally. So I opted for local purchase.

Short review after 30 mins of low volume noodling in the office.
Neck as expected - silky and smooth. Med (not jumbo) frets for a more vintage vibe, no belly cut but tapered neck pocket (at the back). Allows for better access (ie you don't get blocked by the body join). Humbuggy sounds very clear, no mud a la LP at all. Haven't hit it with OD as yet (no pedals here), but clean all three positions sound great, with the bridge not too twangy/ice-picky (as was the LPB Suhr, so same there).
I'm not much of a believer in the magic wood, but this does actually sound a little less 'spanky' than the all maple LPB. Lets pretend the rosewood does have a slight effect there, either way I like it!
Not too heavy, but not a lightweight like my MJT swamp ash was. There is a very good chance I will be moving my red Fender Tele along in the wake of this, but I'll give it a little while to settle and see whether there is a place for both. I do love the Tele, but all this doubling up has to stop somewhere I guess.
I'll update this once I get some pedals in front, and stand upright with it rather than seated (no strap in the office, a minor oversight).

That red one's the channel bound one, eh?

So, what's the set-up now? Just idly stalking your Photobucket pics. So much nice gear.

Yep that's it. Such a great neck on it, oiled not poly.

At the moment 2 Doozys, 3 Suhrs, 2 Fenders, 2 Voxes, the Rev, Axis (although that's off south soon hopefully), Taylor and the Ovation. I'm thinking 2 Suhrs, 1 Doozy, 1 Fender and 1 Vox will be the ideal land point.

The '3' does, but I've accounted for it in my end count of 2 Suhrs :)
