HNG&AD

Post by Molly »

Double delivery day!

Thanks Bender for the careful packaging. Also here today is the 335. Jolly nice it is too.

Pic shows the corner of my garage I've annexed for guitar related stuff until such time as we buy / build a bigger place.

Guitars are now: the 335, PRS DGT, Suhr Strat, and a couple of Tele-parts-casters. That'll do for now. :-)

I should do that actually. I had a few reservations and flicked them to Matt. He came back with suggestions for settings etc. because of the Bassman connection (less bass at high volume etc.). Started back at work since then and really haven't had time to experiment.

My only real criticism is that playing chords can sometimes seem to overwhelm it and they almost 'build' to an indistinct blugh. Same when using an overdrive pedal for extra gain. I've given up on that despite trying a number of really good pedals. What it does it does very well and I'm still glad I bought it. I much prefer it with vintage single coils to humbuckers. Muddies too easily but, again, I need to try Matt's advice. Briefly put a Creamback 65 in there but went back to the original (only because I thought I had other plans for the Creamback).

Anyway, I like it. It'd be a great 'grab and go' if I had anywhere to be. Just have to figure my way around a few things.

What this demo needs is a bit of hard rhythm playing rather than slow noodling. Nevertheless, this is a good representation:

Link's acting-up. It's the Guitarist one.

I do. :-)

Well, that sounds cocky. Don't mean to but I don't buy anything now unless I'm confident I'll get my money back.

Can't beat the look of a red 335, classic !
Tube amp and guitar tones straight from 1958… amazing how believable the sounds were back then, even without the modellers...

Cheers chaps. It's a standard run type of 335. No Custom Shop candy blah blah. But it plays and sounds great. Hotter than I'd expect. Dialed the preamp back on the Boogie and all's well. Bit of flame but nothing flash. Nice dark fretboard. Wasn't silly money either so I'm happy.

For the record, that London Pro sounds f'kin' great. Even at home levels. What a cool bloody amp.
