Re: Yeah or nah?
the 80`s guitar was restored to stock on Friday.
I kinda like it

There are still some that think the neck PU is moved to accommodate the extra frets which only proves they cannot detect the difference in length of each.

Re: Yeah or nah?
The only comment I have on this one is that the old stripped top guitar shown has a lot of movement to it other than flame. Yours doesn't have the big "eyes" to it and will therefore have less going on. I'm still in the do-it camp though, as the original is too tangerine for my taste.
The other option is to do a more full style vintage Sunburst with a bit more brown/red on the outer edge.
What colour is the back?

Re: Yeah or nah?
My 2c's worth... I really dislike that edge burst type on LP or ES shapes, which this one has. I much prefer the tear drop type. I don't know what the correct terms for those types.

Re: Yeah or nah?
I've always thought a cherry topped flame LP would be cool...but it would need a brown/dark back to make it work.

Thanks for your insight Grant, yeah a vintage makeover could be an option too. I could have a think on that and come back to you.GrantB wrote:The other option is to do a more full style vintage Sunburst with a bit more brown/red on the outer edge.

The back is a light brown - pic attached above

Amber clear would look good with that....have to admit.

Re: Yeah or nah?
if you love the guitar, have no intentions of selling it . . . then go for it. I would.

Re: Yeah or nah?
Do it Grant's way; it will transform that guitar.
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

Re: Yeah or nah?
There is nothing unique or original about the guitar in it's present form. It's nice, but how many thousands of nice sunbursts are there out there?
Make it stand out from the crowd, it's a yes from me.

Re: Yeah or nah?
I just voted a 'nah' but it's your guitar so do whatever makes you happy. You'll be going in eyes wide open if you take these poll results as an indication of how resale will be impacted. But only matters if you need to sell one day.
They keep telling me tone is in the fingers, but I have yet to see a "look at my fingers" thread.
