My new rack rig
After many changes ive come to a semi finished stage for my rack rig. I finished a 10U initially but it was much too heavy and thus have settled with a 6U which is much more manageable and I can actually lift it
Main components in the rig are the Voodoo Labs GCX swithcer and Voodoo Labs Ground Control Pro. Brilliant pieces of equipment, very easy to use and will suit many applications. I had a mod done on the GCX so the last four loops are set in stereo - which enables me to run a L/R setup. At the moment its just setup in mono. The photos dont show the Roctron Hush (stombox) which I've installed in the back of the rack which has made my rig absolutely dead silent - i will put a video up soon to show the benefits of it. The Line 6 Echo Pro is fantastic - the main delays i use are digital mod, analog mod, sweep echo and the dotted eight digital delay setting. I shortened all the power cables for a clean look and cables are all George L's 0.155.
New additions will be a Suhr Mini Mix and a new interface (where all my cables will plug into, power/audio/midi) and a Pedal Power AC which will power the GCX and maybe a Whammy If your interested in a rig like this for yourself please PM me and we can chat. Enjoy the photos and keep watching this space, more photos and some videos to come!

Re: My new rack rig
Wow! So you had 8 seperate rack cases ?Clarky wrote:Well done making it work! I gave up using 8 racks and went back to 1 rack and some pedals.

Re: My new rack rig
Cool rig, 6U is a tad more compact to flick around I know this because I used to specialise in dragging around too much gear for many years (too many probably) and now the rack side of things in my life is housed in an 18U, due to recent expansions. This does, however, stay in one place these days!!! Included a pic to show my gear for your perusal and anyone elses interest, and I did a custom pedal board for my "on the road" work. Mind you, though I haven't done it for 5 years now, I can't believe the amount I used to have to lug to a gig (DX7 Keyboard, Bass Bin, Fender Bassman Head, H/H Guitar Amp, 2 guitars, Keyboard Stand, Rack - at the time housing 6 units). Kind of glad that particular band dissolved and my current setup is... er... slightly more compact. The rundown:
Pic shows the pre-expanded Rack, but I'll post that up here for perusal as well ...
RECORDING - Rack System housed in 18U Rack
Digitech RP20, functioning as an A/B Splitter
...into a
2U Customised Patchbay/Router
...which then goes off to ...
[A/Left Channel]
Korg SDD-1000 Digital Delay
Boss GL100 Guitar Driver
>> Mix Output on the SDD1000 goes to a 100W H/H Amp Ch 1
>> Direct Output on the SDD1000 goes to Amp Ch 2
[B/Right Channel]
Korg SDD-3000 Digital Delay (B Channel)
Ibanez DUE400 Effects Processor (B Channel)
>> Goes to a 50W Marshall Amp
VAMP Pro
- RECORDING UNITS mounted inside rack as well
>> Digital DAT Recorder
>> Presonus rackmount Firepod 8 Track
>> Ultrapatch Pro
... routing itself eventually through to the mixer on top of the rack...
...and out to either the MacPro or my other PC depending ...
THE LIVE SETUP
Bringing that lot into a more compact version, I made a custom pedalboard which has 2 levels, containing ...
(CLEAN System)
Korg AX30G Effects Processor (Clean settings & Main Backup, because of a nasty failure a while back)
Morley Wah
A/B Splitter for Guitars - Splits the input for (a) or (b) Guitar (one std tuning, the other "D" tuning)
(OVERDRIVE/Lead System)
Boss SD-2 Dual Overdrive (Rhythm / Lead Overdrives)
Marshall Guv'nor Plus Overdrive (Overdrive boost)
Marshall Echohead Delay
Boss DD6 Digital Delay (set to a fast delay)
Boss BF-3 Flanger
Line 6 ToneCore EchoPark Delay (set to a slow delay/80% Wet)
...all splits out into H/H Stereo amplifier (Clean [Left] & Lead [Right] output from Pedalboard) and my Marshall ('3rd' Line, off the pedal board - this is actually the left output of the Delay as the right output is taken into the snake on the pedalboard for the main L/R outputs, I place this amp usually a couple of feet apart from the H/H). It further 'stereo-ises' the sound.
Switching between modes is achieved with a Morely A/B/Y Switch which allows you to activate A or B Channels individually, or have both at on once. Very useful indeed And I can turn on the Marshall distortion independently. That's really useful. I use it more for boosting the signal than the distortion per se. There is
MAIN GUITARS: USA Fender, Black, Seymour Duncan. Custom Radian Strat (yep, that "Dave Murray" one that's just been posted by ash, that was me that ordered that off the back of wanting to build up an eventual lot of customised guitars based on my favourite players, so the first up was to get one modelled on Dave M's classic '57 Strat, which is now housed in a glass case I hear...)

not sure if you noticed or not, but there seems to be a black fog creeping into your music room.. perhaps you have a poltergeist?
