Best Songwriters

Post by foal30 »

or more accurately, my favorite songwriters.

1. Paul Weller
2. Matt Johnson
3. Prince Rodgers Nelson
4. Shane Carter
5. Joni Mitchell

I'm in a writing mood, sometimes I drown in one of these writers to fire up a bit.

Jon Schaffer from Iced Earth
Luca Turilli from Rhapsody and solo stuff(check him out if you like neo-classical shred  )

both of them are probably more composers than songwriters....
Hurdy Gurdy.... some how... and I'm not entirely certain how mind you, an instrument that sounds like someone has shoved a nest of angry hornets into a goose with a kazoo bill and is randomly slapping the poor creature with an accordion.... Sounds amazing.

Not all are "songwriters" as such but y'know, they wrote songs and therefore count.

Jeff Buckley
Neil Young
Leonard Cohen
Jerry Cantrell
Chino Moreno
Thom Yorke
Josh Homme
Billy Corgan

And whoever writes most of the Portishead stuff...
