Numpty issues... (interface setup with Reaper)
Not sure if this is the right section, but there seems to be some recording discussions in here. Anyways...
Just a quick numpty check. Was playing around with the Phonic interface last night, just to make sure I can get it working with Reaper before I start doing some recording later this week. Installed the interface as per instructions, opened Reaper, changed the audio settings to select the Phonic ASIO driver, all looks good. However, nothing is being picked up by Reaper. I just plugged a guitar into one of the analogue inputs, so I could mess around with everything in the comfort of the lounge and not upset the GF too much. I can see the guitar is being picked up by the interface, but silence in Reaper.
It has been a while since I’ve used Reaper, but the M-Audio USB interface was easy to set up, don’t remember it being any different to what I did last night. I am at noob level with Reaper though, so just before I dive into 8000 web pages and youtube vids to figure it out, is there something I’m missing by being dumb?

I've inserted a track and set it to record, selected the right input from the Phonic (selection of track inputs in the drop down box matches the interface), but nothing but silence.

Tyrone, have you tried turning it off and on again?

Djeremy, I am an engineer, of course I have tried all the usual "engineer" ways of making it work, including unplugging everything and plugging it in again, turning it off and on, moving all the dials backwards and forwards, pressing unrelated buttons on the device, smacking it....jeremyb wrote:Tyrone, have you tried turning it off and on again?

I don't know what Numpty is, can't help with the problem, but just thought I'd mention that I love Reaper so much I actually paid for it a couple of weeks ago.

Polite English term for idiot, similar to muppet. I've paid for Reaper as well, it's awesome. The current user of my Reaper install, not so awesome.mr_sooty wrote:I don't know what Numpty is, can't help with the problem, but just thought I'd mention that I love Reaper so much I actually paid for it a couple of weeks ago.

Have you tried a different power cable? what about re-installing the operating system?Danger Mouse wrote:Djeremy, I am an engineer, of course I have tried all the usual "engineer" ways of making it work, including unplugging everything and plugging it in again, turning it off and on, moving all the dials backwards and forwards, pressing unrelated buttons on the device, smacking it....jeremyb wrote:Tyrone, have you tried turning it off and on again?

You say you've pressed all the buttons but have you tried pressing them extra hard, repeatedly until the lift arrives or the crossing changes to green?
So, is that low alcohol or no alcohol at all? mmmm, no alcohol, do you want to try it? Noooooooooo.
