NORD. Sacrilege! No guitars in sight....

Post by SimonHirst »

New Online Release Day...
As a few of you might remember Eddie Rayner from Split Enz has done some work with me on my album, including writing an orchestra arrangement for an alternate version of one of the album songs. It's the last track on the album named 'Through The Wall Of Light' and I was attempting to write more of a sign-off, as opposed to a full song. Anyway, the album version is quite a dynamic band track, which keeps building until the end. However, when writing it I thought that it could sound quite special if there was a version arranged for classical instruments. Eddie agreed and I sent him nothing more than the piano and vocal tracks and said I'd love him to take it wherever he felt, without having any input whatsoever. He sent this arrangement back a few days later.

No guitars in sight sorry :eh: Please don't swing the hammer Beeg
However, I'm very proud of it, and the fact that it is unlike anything I've done before. Plus getting the chance to work with Eddie was amazing!
It certainly won't be everyone's cup of tea but if you're interested, and not adverse to a more classical/soundtrack feel, then free to have a listen below

Yeah, well, you have a great voice. Can write a pretty song too. And you have Eddie Rayner as your arranger......
In spite of all those impediments, you've produced something quite lovely... quite lovely indeed!
