NGD

Post by Rog »

My Ovation CC28 Amber Waterfall Bubinga joined the family 5:33am today.
I have no idea how to approach all this obvious woodgrain nonsense. Maybe a can of paint?

Guitar is second hand (ex TM), and really is in 'as new' condition. The V neck is a little different for me and the strings still feel too 'tight' for my electric-only hands, but I'll get used to that. It appears to have been pretty much unplayed and the tag was still on the gig bag.

Why buy an Ovation? For me, as an electric player, its a sort of Clayton's acoustic because it still feels like an electric and that was my main box to be ticked. I'm never going to be an acoustic player, this is another of my compromises with gear. Its use will be pretty much as an accompaniment for my voice, no lead work. Early indications are that it will fulfil that role nicely.

Its Rog christening song was "Horse With No Name' (only 2 chords- LOL)

Welcome to your new home.

If you wanted an acoustic sound that plays as well as an electric you could have gone piezo/line6/VG-99 route without resorting to this...

Looks good Rog..... for an ovation anyway :p.

Could you please find an older uglier fence to take the pic in front of next time though. Your fence puts everyone else's fence to shame.

LOL. This is the super shallow body version, which doesn't clash with puku.

This. Whenever I've played one sitting down it always ends up sliding to almost horizontal.

LOL. Hardly! That still requires electricity. We live at the beach, we don't get that here.

When the Values Party (Greens forerunner) was formed, we played at the local party launch in New Plymouth. Under the shade of Paritutu rock, we had to use a generator for power. After it blew up the guitarist's amp with a big puff of magic smoke, we decided we'd never again use generators for band power.

I wanted to say something snide but my heart's not in it today.

Happy New Plastic Plucker Day Rog! :D
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

That's OK, I'm not up for much banter today, either mate. Mrs Rog had another lump removed and we had a bad night and I'm pretty shattered today.
