looks like a good colour choice. the light black stain over a dark wood filler could look good. give both a try on the offcut and see. Be an interesting experiment!

Re: Tele build, ITS HAPPENING!
I've been told that if I do enough coats of Lacquer it should act as a wood filler and still get a nice flat surface. So if I can get away without wood filler I might do that. Although I might do one more experiment with ebony wood filler and see how it looks.Lostininverness wrote:looks like a good colour choice. the light black stain over a dark wood filler could look good. give both a try on the offcut and see. Don't bother with filler with a stain finish, it's way cooler having a nice texture to the body, the grain will naturally darken up with more coats of stain, will look epic!

Re: Tele build, ITS HAPPENING!
yeah using lacquer will work sweet, you might just to need to think about if you want to flatten a bit as you go or at the end. Its basically like filling in a gully with topsoil along the ridges and gully at the same time, till the gullies are filled and then knocking the top off everything. And you may use a lot more lacquer. If you use filler you are only filling the gullies with lacquer. Is that the worst analogy possible? It is sunday night....
Or as JB suggests, leave it with texture. Nice to feel the wood........(can Jeremy resist responding to this?)

Regret not taking that Baker off the wall and having a toot on it when I had the chance.

Re: Tele build, ITS HAPPENING!
Neck has been Amber tinted, body sanded back slightly, leaving the centre neck through a little bit darker to highlight it. I think I'm almost ready for first Nitro top coats!
