Cheap Strat opinions? Vintage V6 vs Squire
Looking for opinions on cheaper Strats. I’ve seen an old squire Japan made Strat locally but they know what’s it worth and asking $700 ish. Is a Vintage V6 actually just as good as an old Jap
Squire?
Squire classic vibes look pretty authentic but not many around S/H.
Any other sleepers I need to know about?

Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

There was (is?) and Indonesian series of Squier with the larger CBS-style headstock that I think are excellent guitars for the money. Think my last one came and went at about $300.

If you can find a G&L Legacy Tribute, you’ll be happy. They’re better than the majority of cheap strat options due to higher quality hardware and pickups. Classic Vibes are very plasticy, but are generally decent. Pickup wise, they’re very 1 dimensional but funnily enough, very classic sounding.

I had a similar mission for a cheap Tele recently. Ended up with a classic vibe squier from WairarapaJack on here, and pretty happy with it. Thick finish on the body is the only real criticism I have, but it’s nice and light and resonant and plays well.

This. Very well put together and if you can find an earlier MIK model, it'll have USA hardware.Polar Bear wrote: ↑Tue Sep 21, 2021 9:11 pm If you can find a G&L Legacy Tribute, you’ll be happy. I had forgotten about the G&L, nice 2 point trem too from
Memory. I went in to try a Vintage V6 Icon and really liked it.
Although it did have a fret catching the high E (which can be common with lower end guitars) it was nice feeling/playing overall. If one came up S/H I’d probably go for that.
I think the old Jap Squire Strats, Japanese Fernandes Tokais etc are probably very good although these modern ones seem just as good? For about the same price new as these ones are S/H?

Check out the Harley Benton stuff too, incredible bang for buck!

Interesting to see what this goes for. I have their second-hand value in my head at about $600, but this might be a couple of years out of date.codedog wrote: ↑Wed Sep 22, 2021 9:25 am There's a Classic Vibe on TM at the moment... https://www.trademe.co.nz/3264220878
