Man...that whole deal...just to look at, it's a great mash up of cool guitar design elements. I guess I'm a retronaut in aesthetic...much GAS, foam and froth here. I need a shower :)

Matching headstock/body paint with fretboard block inlays a la '66 JM/Jags. It works on the pink like it works on vintage JMs/jags where the paint has aged and faded down.
Headstock echoes '70s Starcaster...a semi hollow offset!
Mild body offset in metallic auto paint...and what's not to dig about an offset, right?
DeArmond SCs and gold foil-esque HB pups...the sonic sparkle equivalent of ice clinking in a glass of single malt.
JM/Jag like wang set up...for... the...frickin...win!

Hope they feel and play as good as they look...Guild, huh, who'ed have ever thunk it?
I whole heartedly agree with your raging synopsis!

I was oggling then yesterday wondering how to get one…
Turns out RS are bringing in 4 of each colour so have asked for one to be sent to the Whangarei rocks shop for a try with a view to buy….

Cool thing is they seem to be priced much better than I was expecting. $1199 new in nz (which is what they are in Aussie dollars new).

The bad:
Well no case or bag
For me, the standard tunomatic would need to go. Too weird and creaky
From the reviews it seems like the spring is underwhelming and I’d replace it with an avri or equivalent. It may also be that the trem arm is too short by the looks which is a common over site for non fender offsets for some reason.
I bet the nut is cheap and that’s a big issue with grabbing if you use trem a lot.
Otherwise yes! Yes !
Wow...on the face of it, and taking into account your negs (I agree too, especially the wang spring, arm and bridge...I do dig the wang top plate, though), that's a sharp price even given the flaws. Still allows meat on the bone to correct them without over capitalising on a sows ear to silk purse quest, IMHO.

Looking forward to your review!

Yep
Seen the older generation surfliner before and passed them bye becuase to the obvious flawy of having no trem. This one also has maple board and the worst looking cheapest rocker switches ever to grace a guitar.

Overwhelming support for pink!
Maybe coalition between national, ACT and pink in the making ...

Tune-o-matic with an offset-type vibrato is never a good idea.

I'm seriously colour 'deficient' (blind)...to me they look like reddy brown (poop), silver grey and black (burnt poop). I just liked the lightest colour for the headstock, figured that was 'pink' and went for it. I wonder if my psilocybin induced colour hallucinations were as vivid as the normal seeing folks?

Kurt Cobain and J Mascis would disagree :-)

Probably don’t notice the plinking and plonking with all that’s going on and maybe not a lot of clean wiggle work front stage and centre

Pink looks fantastic. The black looks like one of the shitty 80s Japanese weird-ass instruments for some reason.

Therefore black got my vote!

I just saw this..

NO!!! JUST NO! That's just an ugly rehash of a Strat. It's adds nothing to the lexicon of single coil guitars and is simply a cash grab from the terminally discontent.

Hate it.

Yes I know I'm in a minority of one so I'll get my coat.
