I gave them my credit card number to order one, but I was just researching for a book

I thought it had a number on the end of it, where Iommi's SG has a monkey?

Does the neck snap off cleanly when you slam it into a 4x12?

I'll let you know Ash as soon as I get it....will need to use the concrete shed wall but it will give me the same result. Watch this space.

The credit card comment and the monkey - sorry, I am a pleb (as previously admitted) and I don't get....

I've not seen another PT SG in NZ....anyone else?

Jimmy and Dion from D4/Luger Boa co-own one. Milon ex-Sommerset bought one when we were in the states in 2002, it's now owned by Sam from Kitsch. That's the two I know of. They're great guitars, sound excellent and the satin finish is unusual, in a nice way. Both examples I mention here did suffer from tuning issues, but that's the nature of SG's really, and I'm sure someone like ASH could help there.

I should point out this isn't one of the limited 250 with the massive hard case....it's the USA standard Pete Townsend, still with a signed case & head stock but it's the smaller case. But a $4000NZD price difference

From what I've gathered, Gibson seem to provide 3 neck profiles now:

1. 50's fat/thick neck
2. 60's slim/fast neck
3. Hybrid of the two

I have the 60's neck on my '61 Reissue (obviously) and to my skinny fingers, it plays quick and smooth. However, my Explorer and my SG GT both have the hybrid one, which sits somewhere between two. I find the slightly thicker neck of the GT gives a more LP kind of feel, and whilst isn't as speedy to play, sounds nicer for chords, not sure why.
I've got all 3 I think - my SGs and L6S have the thick neck (70's style), the 335 and Firebird (60 and 90's) have the slim wide one and strangely the Lp's (both 70's) seem to have the intermediate.

Does not seem to make any difference to me - the only thing I have to adjust to are the jazz strings on the LP recording cause they are thicker, medium guage. I found the tone of single light guages was very thin (especially the 1/2nd strings) on the LP recording with low impedence pups, although fine on the other LP (a custom with humbuckers).
