Jackson neck crack?

Post by danrawkz »

hi guys, just received this jackson guitar I bought, and it seems like the neck isn't in very good nick. These cracks look a bit dodgy to me (at the join between two pieces of wood used). Opinions? I wasn't told about it on the auction

That appears to be a lovely and in-focus deck.

Quite often the joins are noticeable. I don't think that would be anything to worry about.
The crack though...... with how out of focus your pic is, it's impossible to tell if it's an issue.

The problem I have is the bit you can feel is everything up to the point of the crack. The joined area after where the crack splits off is smooth

Edgar Po Wong ("Snotty") would be more appropriate to this forum, methinks.

Dan, had a chance to get a luthier (Ash, Mr Glyn, etc etc) to have a nosy?

if its only on one side of the neck I wouldn't be to worried about it. just try and get some glue in there and then sand it with really fine sand paper

Im thinking it could be as little as 5 years old. I guess that's why they sell decking stain, or does the wood gray over time regardless?
