I don't think you've proved they aren't either... Happy to take pics of the neck if you really care, but I think you're just bored and trolling, cause thats what I'd be doingBg wrote: But you haven't proved they're made solely in Japan, not that it matters, like you haven't proved that the neck is made out of one piece of wood or that it makes a blind bit of difference. Sigh.
Maybe you should just get a guitar made out of one single piece of wood, probably a Lancaster 20,000 old kauri soaked in poly gloop.

Re: Return of the Gibson shocker thread!
Sorry for the delayed response but...
Maybe if I lived in a nice little country town like Christchurch I could get away with a LHD drive car, but it doesn't work in the big smoke.
I watched a Top Gear re-run on the plane last night and I think I want a BMW 135i once the Holden falls off the road (and lets face it, its a Holden, so it's not going to take long).
Anyway, back to your regular feature of people with fake Les Pauls getting defensive...
Or you have to get into parking buildings, they don't put card readers and ticket dispensers on the left side of the car. While I don't drive to work very often (and if I did I would have to swipe a pass to get into the carpark), when I do drive its either because I have to go into town where I need to get a ticket from a parking machine, or to go to the airport where I have to put my CC into a parking machine.jeremyb wrote:LHD ain't that big a disability, unless you're trying to pass on the open road without a passenger to tell you when it's safe to go!

I had mad GAS for one of those until I started researching the N54 engine. The more you look, the bigger the horrorjimi wrote: I think I want a BMW 135i
Utterly cool car though.
Oh, and I just want to nominate this thread for the Geoffrey Palmer Snoozefest Award for most tedious thread ever.
Of course you can build a better Les Paul... but then it wouldn't be a Gibson.
Or an Edwards.
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.

I was actually asleep while trolling. That's not true, I did most of it waiting for the ferry to move between paihia and russell

Not fond of the colours, too faded.jeremyb wrote:http://www.guitarplayer.com/guitars/101 ... lery/51629
But the idea is kind of daft, really.
Why not simply donate a percentage of their earnings across the board, rather than hope people will buy that particular model?

The answer to both of the above is "marketing".

Re: Return of the Gibson shocker thread!
When I last got my Jimmy Page Edwards set up, the luthier commented on what a good guitar it is. He said he really liked it.
Normally that doesn't mean much cos luthiers say that to peeps about their guitars all the time.
To put it in context, I have taken many, many guitars to him over the years, (I am 51yo and my family have been going to him since I was a kid. We take all our church guitars there plus personal ones) and he very seldom gives compliments about guitars. Sometimes he'll say 'yeh that's an alright guitar' but that's about it.
To also put it in context, he didnt say that about my white Edwards Custom (although that was in fact a very good guitar imho).
So even amongst Edwards, there must be variations, not so much in playability and quality (imo they all seem to play well and are high quality) but in some other way that the luthier understands more than I do.
He has played a lot of guitars.

In other news, Gibson is broadening its horizons...because Henry said so. Cock.

I'm quite big on those Mexicans. Top gear can fuck off. Three MIMs and a couple of MIKs in the racks.jeremyb wrote:I will admit I'm a little sensitive about my Edwards, but then so are the Gibson owners... If you like it that's all that matters, no matter where in Asia it was made? I had a cracking little squier strat made in China, cheap as chups and a good basic copy of the real deal.
