Called in to the K'Rd Rockshop the other day and a saw a latest Gibson CS '59 ES 335, got a soft spot 335s, reasonable neck and weight and a good tobacco sunburst finish asking $13k.
Last one I saw there was the last of the Memphis guitars a '58 ri that was August '19 at $8k.
Really makes you wonder who is buying new guitars.
Someone must be - they always seem to go eventually - there's some Greeny's coming in at ~$30k+, they'll go - I have my suspicions.....

Rockshop sells a good number of guitars at eye-watering prices. They know how to reach out to the rich.

I watched a thing about market increases in vintage guitars. Some of the price rises are eye-watering. One thing's for sure, my one and only chance to own a pre-CBS Strat passed when I got cold-feet and declined a very generous offer from GrantB.

And the Boss OD1 I bought for £3 (honestly) about thirty years ago and stupidly sold for about $100 ten years ago, now sells for in the region of $500! FFS....

Both of those are so inoffensive, they are offensive.

Grumpy old man post ahead. Everyone knows this store will only be a cost. Every Gibson that sells through a "proper" music shop will be subsidising their ego driven folly of big retail stores.

Gibson is truly following their dream of being the Harley-Davidson of guitars. Nothing could turn me off more.
