Nasty dusty old fender
Couldn't afford a nice shiney new one so I'm making do with this. At least Ben won't feel like the only bull kelp surfer with a shabby old guitar.
1964 fender jaguar with OHSC.
Mmmm mmmmm.
Neck stamp, neck plate, pots and pup codes check out. Original frets with plenty of meat left. Truss works great.
Lovely patina on the paint work,,especially the headstock.
Even has the funky little string dampener in the case.
The neck profile is vintage compared to the jap jag I use, chunky in a very good way.. The jap is a very thin squashed C.
Also customs must have been in a good mood as they just sent her on through $$$

Re: Nasty dusty old fender
fuck me. What an amazing thing. Can I ask how much you shelled out on this glorious guitar? Did it come from the US? Will you trade it for a small, well trained child?

Re: Nasty dusty old fender
Bought online from Japan
Not a crippling amount actually, but the fact customs weren't involved certainly made it a 'cheap' vintage guitar.
And yes, it is glorious. Like any 52 year old instrument it's needed a bit of love setting it up, shim, action, grease the trem etc but is p,aging and sounding magnificent now.
The nut is not original, and I will get Glyn to shape and fit a new one for me as the low E string slot isn't quite right.

Yep. I'll eat my words there. It's a very different beast to my jap jag, which I still love to bits.Bg wrote:Yes! only because you'll enjoy it! but there again its not japanese! so erm! yeah! it looks old, nice original checking in the finish!
Yeh I like the checking a lot.
Thanks

Oh yeah! It's such a great guitar even with the minor shortcomings (really just the nut though). And the pickups sound utterly fantastic.

Absolutely love it, and it looks to be in very good shape and original. Which site in Japan did you get it from?
