Almost everyone is on the coat tails of those trail blazers from the 40's and 50's.
I don't think you've kept up with the times at all! And no, I'm not talking Ibanez, theres some growing volume builders like Ormsby who are turning out truly great guitars at better than Fender / Gibson prices...

Ibanez, of course, would never offer a guitar above such prices... ;)
And they're IMHO not worth it either...

As someone who owns two of the production models. I can safely say they are good, yet don't come close to my two > $3,000 big name guitars.

The most obvious reasons are cosmetic. Small paint flaws and not as perfect fitting of parts. Then there is the hardware, pickups not quite a good as I'd like and floppy feeling pots.
Then more down to wood choice and resonance of the guitar etc.

For a $2k guitar it is exactly what you would hope for. But it does lack the finer attention to detail you get on a > $2k guitar.
Ummm....

I don't think innovation has ever paid particular dividends for the big two. That's not what their customers look to them for. Even some of the newer builders know it's commercial suicide to stray too far from the norm. But that's OK because there are also other, more radical new builders carving a niche, so we're all well served.

Oh Dear! :wtf:
 NSFW.
Beyond a critical point within a finite space, freedom diminishes as numbers increase. This is as true of humans as it is of gas molecules in a sealed flask. The human question is not how many can possibly survive within the system, but what kind of existence is possible for those who so survive.
