Blimey! Those are expensive strings! I've always used either EB or D'Addario, they do just fine for me. Those Elixirs are twice the price.null_pointer wrote: 10-46 elixirs and a clean is all I did to this one

My Tele has an oiled neck so along with the slickness of Elixirs it feels awesome (IMHO). Plus MP have them cheapcodedog wrote:Blimey! Those are expensive strings! I get at least 6 months out f a set of elixirs, often more. 1-3 weeks on EB or other uncoated.

Re: (Imminent) NGD
My 52 reissue teles pickups have served me well for 16 years.
Dude I used to play with was bloody awesome in that he could shred on it - I'm a plodding strummer and Gilmourish slow soloer!
The guitar stands up well whether low, medium or high gain.
And yes, noise is there but that's part of the "historical" connection.
I'm not a purist but I love my 52 just the way it is.

Nah, you ought to ride one with a P90 in the bridgeWellyBlues wrote:Gain is an abomination!codedog wrote:The standard pickups actually sound really nice clean, especially with generous reverb. Can't abide noise, would rather go without than have all that nasty hum while I'm jamming to iron maiden on the tele
So, is that low alcohol or no alcohol at all? mmmm, no alcohol, do you want to try it? Noooooooooo.

Re: (Imminent) NGD
I wonder at people's Tele setups - I don't get all this noise y'all are going on about. Must be an excessive gain thing, cause at low to med I don't notice any particular hum I'd term annoying. And on the Suhr of course you get zero (SSC is a beautiful thing). Or are we deeming ANY noise at all unsatisfactory (despite its total lack of notice once a note is played)?

Re: (Imminent) NGD
I also have a goodly amount of CDO but I suspect you playing at paint-peeling/clothing-stripping volumes may contribute to the noise level? I'm a quiet doodler and willing to try and overcome my pickiness.Bg wrote:Wouldn't know, I'm so ocd about it that I bang noiseless pickups in anything single coiled :p
