Tbh I prefer the Gibsons, in a direct comparison. Prefer the shorter upper bout.

Not that I'll be buying either any time soon. Sigh.

The ES-339 I had which may as well have been put together and sold via AliExpress has put me off Gibbys (modern ones at least). Oh and that Midtown Custom...
Had a LP Studio for a while too (loaner from a mate) which didn't change my opinion at all. All that to say looks aside, I'd expect the PRS to exceed the Gibson quality-wise 99 times out of 100. Yes some great Gibbys out there, but you don't find Shi'ite American Std Strats or Teles build-wise...

Perhaps, but the Gibby is more offset. Puts me more in mind of the Potbelly ESPs in that regard.

It looks tasteful, therefore I see no PRS connection.

Dunno what you guys are seeing, but it's clearly a ripoff of the old Tak Matsumoto Epiphone.

The PRS comparisons relate mainly to the horns - an aesthetic. Reality is PRS copied its entire fundamental functional design from Gibson originally (for their h/bucker designs) as did the likes of Bartlett. Will post a photo of one of a Bartlett when not on phone. I do like these new Gibson's and can only hope they didn't let their marketing division come up with some weird and laughable name.

They look much more practical than a Les Paul. I want to see more of the green one on the left, looks like it could be a pretty cool looking guitar. I note it has a locking nut so maybe a whammy too, not that it would interest me but the colour is interesting.

I could see OG Captain Kirk on the deck of the Enterprise strumming on that gold top in his downtime.

When Gibson releases a new design they get out of their wood library some very special stripey maple. On the LP double cuts, most have excellent PRS grade tops. And on the Nighthawk, the first few had quilt tops which were better than anything Gibson was putting on the Les Pauls of the time (1992).

In five years' time these will be selling second hand for diddly nuts. Noone will want them. I like them, so I'll look for one with a huge stripey swimming pool top.
