Un-relic my Telecaster
Small stage + packed pub + stumbling drunk girl = this:
I don't mind a few bumps and knocks, but I think this will continue to grind my gears. What should I do about it?
Its pretty deep, and I couldn't find the missing piece once everyone had cleared out. I've got no experience re-finishing guitars so might need to take it to someone to patch her up. Heres the rest of it anyway! Apologies for the massive photos.

Re: Un-relic my Telecaster
Some wood filler and careful spraying of black paint and you might be able to hide it fairly well

That's rough. What was the offending object that penetrated it?

Indeed. The singers music stand I believe; all happened pretty fast. Didn't see it until some time after.Polar Bear wrote:That's rough. What was the offending object that penetrated it?

Re: Un-relic my Telecaster
That is terrible! A drunk girl grabbed your Tele during a gig, sanded out that tummy contour, refinished it then put it back on its stand!!! If it weren't for the nice battle scar, it would be totally ruined.

Ah ha, I have some of that actually. That and some careful masking for a black laquer spray job could be the ticket. Its only a tele after all..calling card wrote:Funny how real relic is brutal. Here's what I fix/fill things with;

I see it as a sign. Can you not see the "V" that has been engraved by the universe?
They keep telling me tone is in the fingers, but I have yet to see a "look at my fingers" thread.

Re: Un-relic my Telecaster
If you use knead it be sure to pare off the excess with a sharp blade when it starts to go off.
That stuff is bloody hard to surface once cured.
I would be inclined to get some water based wood filler, then fine sanding to get the surface shaped nice before painting.

Just leave it. It now has a story and a bit of history it didn't have before.
