Re: PRS Silver Sky
The Fender CS sounded the best to me, but it's also the most expensive one.
Amps:
Soldano SLO100 x2 | Wizard MC1 & MC2 | Diezel Herbert

Rack stuff:
VHT/Fryette GP3, GP/DI & 2/90/2 | Peters FSM/Chimera
Verellen Meatsmoke | Synergy SYN1 | Mesa Studio

Re: PRS Silver Sky
I've never bonded with any Fender Strats that I had hence moved em all, love my Suhr Strat Style, and I would def get the Silver Sky over Fender Strats
so my verdict for strat style = Suhr > PRS > Fender
so my verdict for strat style = Suhr > PRS > Fender
Re: PRS Silver Sky
You’ve got to agree with his comments around fenders consistency. And its not just a vintage thing. Took me a while to find a strat to bond with, mind you was only looking in the standard price bracket so would like to think they get better with price increase. Ended up with an older highway one with the small headstock. It just feelt right and with some CS fat 50s pickups it sounded right to.

Re: PRS Silver Sky
Hard to fault what he’s saying for mine. He wants a particular strat that Fender couldn’t/wouldn’t give him and PRS can and do it consistently (I’m assuming). He certainly makes it sound tasty.
Loving it so far

Re: PRS Silver Sky
they all sound reasonably similar on the dirty channel to me.
There are still some that think the neck PU is moved to accommodate the extra frets which only proves they cannot detect the difference in length of each.

Re: PRS Silver Sky
hard to fault the first two but the suhr sounded pretty dead by comparison, just didn't have the sparkle and resonance and sounded thin but again unless you were playing them back to back you'd probably never tell, it was probably the most noiseless circuitry which may explain it

Re: PRS Silver Sky
Yeah it did sound pretty compressed to my ears. It would probably work better live, but it didn't have the magic the Fender seemed to.kwhelan wrote:hard to fault the first two but the suhr sounded pretty dead by comparison, just didn't have the sparkle and resonance and sounded thin but again unless you were playing them back to back you'd probably never tell, it was probably the most noiseless circuitry which may explain it
The older I get, the more disappointed in myself I become.

Re: PRS Silver Sky
Great amps require someone to know how to drive them well too...I often see amp demos of amps I own and think 'damn that sounds crap, how about you dial some of dem trebles out??' or similar. Same with pedals, sometimes it take a bit of learning what and how they do things to get best results, and I feel often it comes across that the demonstrators have met the amp 2 seconds before they play (and the sound indicates that). There's no way a Victory sounds that average and still has the reputation it does.
